Everyone Can Design Games

EVERYONE CAN DESIGN GAMES

You may think that you could never be a game designer, but everyone can design games. - Game Design Ed

You may think that you could never be a game designer, but everyone can design games.

For example, the game UNO didn't just fall from the sky and land in toy stores. The game was invented by a barber from Ohio to settle an argument about Crazy Eights with his son.

The Mario Brothers didn't just take a warp pipe into your Nintendo. The Mario Brothers didn't just take a warp pipe into your Nintendo. The Mario Bros were devised by an intern at a small playing card company in Japan who iterated some ideas until he created what would become one of the most iconic games of all time.

And Angry Birds didn't just fly onto your mobile device. It was designed by a musician from Finland and the game was preceded by 51 games that you’ve probably never heard of.

As you can see, it wasn't magic or mere expertise that created these games. Rather, they were made by people just like you and me who took the time, did the work, made mistakes, tried something new, and had the courage to put their THOUGHTS into ACTION.

So the question you should ask yourself is not "CAN I be a game designer?" You and I already know the answer to that: of course you can!

Rather ask yourself, "What do I need to do to be a good game designer?"

That’s the question I’m here to help you answer. And I’m hoping you’ll help me answer it too.
